IWCF Instructor
Drilling & Subsea Operations
Founder of Drilling School
With over 35 years of international experience in drilling, completions, and subsea operations, Tim Manning brings practical, field-tested knowledge into every IWCF course he delivers. His background spans offshore rigs, subsea projects, and supervisory roles across Australasia and beyond, giving him a clear understanding of how well control theory translates to real operational decisions.
Industry Experience
Before becoming an instructor, Tim worked extensively across offshore and onshore drilling environments, with hands-on involvement in well control events, pressure management, and subsea systems. This experience allows him to teach well control in context, grounded in how situations unfold on the rig rather than how they appear in a textbook.
Training Approach
As an IWCF Certified Instructor, Tim is known for a calm, clear, and practical teaching style. He focuses on building understanding rather than rote learning, using simulator exercises and real scenarios to reinforce decision-making under pressure. His approach ensures candidates leave not just certified, but confident in applying well control principles when it matters.
At Drilling School, the person delivering the training is also the person you’ll speak with if you have questions about your course or experience. If you have any questions or are unsure about which course is right for you, please don't hesitate to get in touch with us.
