Training Process
]
What to expect in your training
IWCF well control training combines structured classroom learning with formal assessment to ensure candidates can apply well control principles in real drilling situations.
Our courses are delivered in small groups with an interactive learning approach, allowing candidates to work through real operational scenarios and develop practical decision-making skills before completing the required IWCF examinations.
Classroom Learning
Training is delivered through instructor-led classroom sessions covering well control principles, kick detection, operational procedures and well control equipment used during drilling operations. Small class sizes allow for discussion, questions and practical problem-solving throughout the course.
Written Assessments
Training includes a formal IWCF written exam designed to assess your understanding of well control principles, procedures and equipment covered throughout the course.
Simulator Assessments
For Level 3 and 4, training includes a practical simulator assessment where you apply well control procedures in realistic scenarios, responding to kicks and managing well control events in a controlled environment.

We can also deliver courses at approved locations across Australia or the Asia Pacific for group bookings.

Yes. All candidates need a valid IWCF Candidate Registration Number. If you don’t already have one, you can register through IWCF or follow our Candidate Registration guide.
What do I need to bring or prepare?
Bring a valid photo ID, your IWCF Candidate Registration Number, and a laptop or tablet for your digital assessments.
